In one of my previous articles, I shared with you the must-see places in Cologne. Now let’s find the answer to the question “Where to eat in Cologne?” together.
Brauhaus Früh am Dom
Brauhaus Früh am Dom is the restaurant of the Früh family, which has been brewing beer in Germany for over 100 years. You can try the local flavors and beers of Germany at this restaurant. I can say that the sausages and meats served with mashed potatoes will make those who prefer meat very happy. The place has already proven itself in terms of beer. Another thing I liked about the restaurant was its interior decoration. The restaurant, mostly made of wood, offers a serene escape from the fast-paced tempo of the outside world for a while.

Merzenich
Since we have set foot in Germany, we need to taste street food such as Berliner, Kirschlater, Apfelschnecken-Berliner. If you are interested in these types of food and want to experience these flavors where Germans showcase their skills in dough, you can go to Merzenich located in Wallrafplatz. You can eat many different flavors at affordable prices.

Van Dyck
In addition to being a cafe, it is a brand that offers many different products and services related to coffee. It currently has three branches in Cologne. The branch I have experienced is called VAN DYCK Espresso Bar Ehrenfeld. It is a bit different from the cafes we are used to with its very simple decoration. In fact, although you may find it strange at first, you will love it later. It is a nice place for a coffee break in Cologne.

Brauerei Päffgen
Brauerei Päffgen is also a restaurant where you can both eat and drink. I would like to recommend this place especially for a beer break.
By the way, while we are at it, I would like to tell you about the Kölsch service. In Cologne-style beer service, servers present beers in 20cl thin, long glasses. While you are drinking the beer, waiters called Köbes constantly walk around with trays called Kranz, which can hold many glasses, and when they see that your beer is finished, they immediately replace it with a new one.
I also have a little note about clinking glasses. You should hit the bottom of the glasses while clinking them. It is believed that if you clink the tops of the glasses, it will bring 7 years of bad luck. I am warning you. 😊

Bei Oma Kleinmann
The story began in 1949 when Willi and Paula Kleinmann founded the restaurant. Family members have passed it down, and the Wolf family now runs the establishment. Bei Oma Kelinmann, which has been a family business since its establishment, has a warm atmosphere and a very nice schnitzel. I think it is one of the most intimate venues in Cologne for a dinner.

Die Fette Kuh
I would like to recommend a hamburger place to you, as there may be readers who like to visit different hamburger restaurants in the cities they visit. At Die Fette Kuh, you can sample various types of hamburgers, a favorite spot for Cologne residents who love burgers. It may take a while to get your hamburger due to the crowd, but I must say it is worth it. If the season is right and there is space, sit at a table outside. Also, if you like beer, try a local beer brand with your hamburger.

Café Reichard
If you want to take a break and have a sweet snack in an elegant and stylish place in the city center, your address should be the iconic place of the city, Cafe Reichard. This place was opened in 1855 by Georg Reichard on the popular Hohe Strasse. In addition to the variety and taste of the pastries they offer, the design of the place with many stylish details fascinates the visitors. In my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful meeting and break places in Cologne.
