I’m Ismet, and I currently live in Canada. I’m a travel enthusiast who loves discovering new destinations and experiencing different cultures.

Over the years, I have traveled to many countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America and shared my experiences in different channels. Since I am also interested in food and beverage, I especially enjoys trying local delicacies in the destinations I visit. I am one of the freelancer writers in Lonely Planet and contributed to the company’s Türkiye 17 Guidebook project.

Culinistanbul is my personal space where I share my experiences, thoughts, feelings, and important news. My goal is to make meaningful contributions to those who love exploring and discovering life.

I have worked on a variety of projects related to travel and travel culture. However, co-authoring the 17th edition of Lonely Planet’s Turkey Guidebook—specifically writing the ‘Izmir & the North Aegean’ and ‘Toolkit’ sections—stands out as the achievement I am most proud of. The guidebook was published worldwide in English in December 2024.

My article on “Ordu – Giresun” (Türkiye) has been featured in Lonely Planet’s “Best in Travel 2025” guidebook! It’s truly an honor to be part of such a wonderful project and to showcase a destination from my own country.
