Although fish restaurants come to mind first when you are talking about the foods in Ankara, which is just in the middle of Turkey, eating a crab in the city sounds still quite strange, but it is real.
There is a crab restaurant on the Reşit Galip Street, one of the most known streets of Ankara. Its name is “Yengeççi”. Although crab is the main course of this restaurant, you can also eat delcious mezzes in the restaurant. Ms Ayşe, the owner of the restaurant, is a member of a family who have been exporting blue crabs from Turkey. Because of that she has a very deep knowledge about the crabs.
During my visit, I aet different mezzes and also crab. The mezzes were shrimp humus, clam with mustard sauce, jumbo shrimp, perch roll, avacado crab. To be honest all of these mezzes are too much for one person. So, during your visit you can share them. Although all of the mezzes are very delicious, they a bit salty. However, they are totally delicious.
I also tried the crab. It is worth to say for the people who don’t know, crab has a salty meat. Added to that you should be ready to use your hands while eating a crab 🙂
If you are looking for a different place for a different taste, Yengeççi would be good choice for you J
